Lest We Forget ...

"Come to the Cenotaph

to remember who died,

Come Honour our heroes"

I hear you cry.

"They died in the wars

for you to be free,

They laid their lives

for Queen and country."

Come and remember

the young men and old,

"They died with their boots on"

I was told.

Now Remember our heroes

O, wheren't they brave,

Are they now

rotting in their graves?

Remember these men

they laid down their lives,

But please don't forget

their orphans and wives.

And spare a thought

for those left alive,

Struggling each day

just to survive.

Now think of the children

crippled and maimed,

And tell me now

you do not feel shame.

So why all this suffering

what is it for?

Our men went to battle

to stop all these wars.

Now remember our heroes

and how they were slain.

Remember our heroes

for they all died in vain ...
